Induction Day - 24th July 2017

   Induction Day

So, now I officially have the privilege to annoy people with the fact that I am going to WORK in a company. OK I don't have a job, though I do have an internship :)
Not many teenagers can say that they do, but thanks to Teen Turn, 72 teenage girls in Ireland are able to! Not only do we get to work in a company, we get to work in Tech!

I sit myself in the presentation room and whilst everyone else takes their seat, I think to myself,
  1.  I didn't trip or fall coming into the building
  2. I didn't go to the wrong building
  3. And hey, I didn't say anything stupid! ... (yet)
Then the time comes where we have to use laptops to set up our blogs and what does Kathleen do? Pulls at the thing for like 30 second confused as to why she cant open a laptop. Its simple, just lift the screen up. No, apparently there was a button I had to press to unlock it. How am I going to survive two weeks in a TECH company??
That, we will see in a few days!

     4. Well Kathleen, at least you didn't break the laptop!

 Optimism!!

The mentors didn't wear name tags. You can see now what we had to do, right? Walk up to the adults and find your mentor for yourself! :)

After  two trial and errors, I found the representative for Movidius (the amazing tech company that's going to have to deal with me for two weeks), Xiaofan was lovely! She and all the other mentors in the room explained to us interns everything that their companies have to offer us for our days at work. This really helped and eased the nervousness most of us were feeling for the days to come, and I'm so grateful for it!

We went on a trip!!
After being divided into two groups (Group 1 went to Airbnb - Group 2 went to Accenture), off my group went to Airbnb! The architecture there was amazing so I obviously had to document it! I would've put more photos in this post but that would be a bit excessive, don't ya think?
Anyways, we got a tour of the place and learned the backstory of this travel company, I loved every minute of it :)

So, after informative an interesting presentations, get-to-know-eachother activities, surprise trips and pep-talks, the Dublin group of Teen-Turn girls were ready for their adventures to come in their companies!
Thanks Joanne and Niambh, the co-founders of Teen Turn for giving us this opportunity, and thanks to Xiaofan for preparing me for work at Movidius!

Watch out Tech world, here I come!

See ya next week, Kathleen.
